Open MatchWatch and sign up with Apple, Google, or an email address. Already sorted? Sign in and carry on.
Create or join a group
Name a group or use an invite link or code to join one. Groups hold up to six people, including partners, flatmates and family.
Swipe privately
Like the films and shows you would watch. When the group reaches a match, MatchWatch puts the shared answer in your Watchlist.
Start with the bits that shape your deck
Open the web app
Go to app.matchwatch.tv in your browser. MatchWatch works on phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen for quicker access.
Create your account or sign in
Use Apple, Google, or an email address and password. Email sign-up includes a six-digit confirmation code, so keep that inbox nearby.
Finish the short setup
Add your name, select United Kingdom, choose your streaming services, pick a few genres and set your age range. Those choices give the first deck somewhere sensible to start.
Bring the right people into one group
Create or join during setup
Name a new group, or choose Join a group and enter the invite code you were sent. You can also skip this step and manage the group later from your profile.
Share the invite
Copy the eight-character invite code or send an email invite. The email link carries the code into setup, but the person joining still needs to create or sign in to an account.
Keep the group small
A group can have up to six people. That covers a couple, a flat full of competing opinions, or the family actually on the sofa tonight.
Tell MatchWatch what the household can open
Pick services during setup
The UK selection is Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV, NOW, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Paramount+ and Channel 4. Choose at least one to continue.
Change the list in your profile
Open Profile, find Streaming Services and tap Edit. Add a new subscription or remove the one everyone forgot to cancel, then save the list.
Remember BBC iPlayer's own rule
You must be covered by a UK TV Licence to watch or download BBC iPlayer, including live and on-demand viewing. TV Licensing lists an exception for S4C programmes watched on demand. You also need a BBC account.
Make your picks without selling them to the room
Right for yes, left for no
Drag a card right when you would watch it and left when you would not. The star is a stronger yes. Tap the card when you want the synopsis, trailer or provider details first.
Keep the swipes private
Everyone chooses on their own screen. MatchWatch does not show the room a running list of your yeses and nos, so nobody has to defend Paddington 2 before the swiping is done.
Let the match settle it
For a couple, both people must like the title. In a larger group, it becomes a match when enough people agree. Shared picks land in the Matched view.
Filter by the evening you are actually having
Open Mood from the bottom bar
Choose Trending, Date Night, Action, Funny, Scary, Romance, Feel Good, Thriller, Kids, Family, Documentary, Sci-Fi, TV or Coming Soon.
Swipe the refreshed deck
Your chosen mood changes the deck to fit that category. It is useful when the room agrees on funny but has absolutely no idea which comedy.
Switch or clear it
Open Mood again to choose something else, or clear the filter and return to the wider deck. Your earlier swipes remain recorded.
Keep the good options after the swipe
Find the titles you liked
Open Watchlist from the bottom bar. My Swipes holds your own liked titles, Matched holds the group's shared picks, and Passed keeps the cards you rejected.
Add something from search
Search for a specific film or show, open its details and choose Add to Watchlist. Handy when someone remembers the title five minutes after everyone stopped looking.
Use Pick for me
Choose My Swipes or Matched, then tap Can't decide? Pick for me. MatchWatch draws from the titles in that view and gives the group one answer to consider.
Add another country when the household needs it
Choose regions during setup
Select United Kingdom for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can choose more than one supported country if that reflects where your household watches.
Edit regions from your profile
Open Profile, find Regions and tap Edit. MatchWatch currently supports New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Check services after a change
Adding a region expands the available service list and the content MatchWatch can use. Review Streaming Services afterwards so the selected subscriptions still match the household.
A few ways to stop the second argument
Keep regions and services current
A deck is more useful when MatchWatch knows where you watch and which services you have. Update both in Profile when the household setup changes.
Use a mood before endless scrolling sets in
Agree on the shape of the night first. Funny, Scary or Documentary is a much easier decision than naming the exact title from memory.
Let Pick for me break the tie
Once My Swipes or Matched contains a few decent options, open that view and tap Pick for me. You can draw again if its first answer gets the full flatmate veto.
Free to use
No credit card, paid tier or swipe limit. Your streaming services keep their own subscriptions and access rules.
Private swipes
People choose on their own screens. The group sees the match, not a running commentary on every rejected film.
Built for UK services
The UK setup includes subscription and free services, with the BBC iPlayer TV Licence requirement stated clearly.

Use MatchWatch in a modern browser and add it to your home screen if you want one-tap access. Native apps are still coming.
