The Emmys ran Monday night on NBC and Peacock, and by the time the takeout containers hit the trash, Widow's Bay had walked off with the whole thing. Here are the Emmy winners 2026 and where to stream each one in the US tonight, plus which of them you and your roommate will both say yes to. What won at the 2026 Emmys
Widow's Bay won Comedy Series and finished the week on 14 Emmys, the most any comedy has taken in a single year. Matthew Rhys won two lead acting awards in one evening for two different shows, and The Pitt won Drama Series for the second year running. Where to stream the Emmy winners in the US
Six titles below, and they all clear the same bar. Every one of them has to be streaming right now on a subscription, a free tier or an ad tier in the US, checked this week, which means nothing here turns into a rental charge at the last screen. Widow's Bay
Fourteen Emmys in one year, a record for a comedy, and this was only season one. Matthew Rhys plays an island mayor in New England who talks up a tourism revival and wakes the local legends everyone told him to leave alone. Katie Dippold created it. Ten episodes, 38 minutes each.
The Pitt
Drama Series two years running, and Noah Wyle won Lead Actor again. One shift in a Pittsburgh trauma center, close to real time, understaffed and over capacity from the first minute. R. Scott Gemmill created it, and Patrick Ball is opposite Wyle. Two seasons, 30 episodes, 48 minutes apiece.
DTF St. Louis
Limited Series winner, seven Emmys total, with supporting wins for David Harbour and Linda Cardellini. Steven Conrad wrote and directed it and won for both: three middle-aged people in suburban Missouri tangled in a love triangle, and one of them does not survive it. Jason Bateman leads. Seven episodes.
Pluribus
Rhea Seehorn won Lead Actress in a Drama for this, and Vince Gilligan, who created it, won for writing. She plays an Albuquerque novelist immune to a contagion that has folded everyone else into one serene shared mind, and she wants no part of it. Nine episodes, 50 minutes.
Hacks
Jean Smart won Lead Actress in a Comedy for the fifth time in this role, for the fifth and final season. A veteran Las Vegas headliner and the young writer forced on her grind each other into something like a partnership. Five seasons, 47 episodes. Hannah Einbinder plays the writer.
The Beast in Me
Honorable mention
Matthew Rhys's second win of the night, Lead Actor in a Limited Series, playing opposite Claire Danes. She is a grieving writer who decides her wealthy neighbor is a murderer, and he is happy to play along. Gabe Rotter created it. Eight episodes, 49 minutes, one weekend.
What each one is, and which of you it is for
Widow's Bay is the story of the night. Katie Dippold created it, Matthew Rhys plays Mayor Tom Loftis, and Kate O'Flynn and Stephen Root took the supporting comedy awards for it. Comedy Series plus 13 more trophies, 14 in one year, which no comedy had done before. Put it on when one of you wants a mystery and the other wants to laugh, because it is both at once. Apple TV, ten episodes.
The Pitt won Drama Series for the second year in a row, and Noah Wyle won Lead Actor in a Drama again with it. R. Scott Gemmill created it, and the whole thing runs one emergency room shift close to real time, so the pressure never drops long enough for anyone on the couch to pick up a phone. This is the one for the half of the room that hates a slow build. HBO Max has it.
DTF St. Louis took Limited Series, and Steven Conrad won for writing it and directing it. David Harbour and Linda Cardellini won the supporting awards, and Jason Bateman leads. Pluribus is Vince Gilligan's, which is most of the pitch right there, and he won Writing in a Drama for it. Rhea Seehorn won Lead Actress in a Drama playing an Albuquerque novelist who stays herself while everyone around her folds into one calm shared mind. Nine episodes. It is the title someone has been dodging because it sounds like work. It is not. You will both have plenty to say afterward. Apple TV.
Hacks closed out on its fifth and final season, and Jean Smart won Lead Actress in a Comedy for it, her fifth win in the role. Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky created it, and Smart and Hannah Einbinder play a two hander that gets meaner and warmer at the same time. Forty seven episodes across five seasons is a real commitment, so start it on a Sunday and be done by Halloween. HBO Max.
The Beast in Me is the honorable mention, and the reason Matthew Rhys went home with two lead acting Emmys in one night. Gabe Rotter created it, Claire Danes plays a writer convinced her wealthy new neighbor is a killer, and Rhys plays the neighbor enjoying every second of the attention. Eight episodes at 49 minutes. Netflix, which somebody in this house already pays for, so tonight it costs you nothing extra.
The rest of the winners, briefly
Remarkably Bright Creatures won Television Movie, and Sally Field took Lead Actress in a Limited Series for it. Olivia Newman directed it, Lewis Pullman plays opposite Field, and it is a movie on Netflix. Task got Tom Pelphrey the Supporting Actor win in a Drama, opposite Mark Ruffalo, and it is on HBO Max. Allison Janney won Supporting Actress in a Drama for The Diplomat, three seasons of it streaming on Netflix now. Saul Metzstein won Directing in a Drama for Slow Horses, which lives on Apple TV, and Prime Video carries season one only, so do not start there. The Traitors won Reality Competition and sits on Peacock, one tab over from the Real Housewives reunion you have both seen twice.
One number worth knowing before you go picking services this fall: Apple TV went to $14.99 a month on August 28. Two of the six above live there, plus Slow Horses, so decide what you are actually going to watch before that charge lands. HBO Max carries three of the six. Pick one without the argument
Three of these services in one apartment and the night can still get away from you. The takeout lands, somebody opens Netflix out of habit, and nothing gets played while everyone talks about what they might play. The fix is not better taste, it is a shorter argument.
