How-to guide Β· United States

Everything you need to sort movie night.

Set up MatchWatch for your US services, invite the roommates and get to something everyone will watch. Eight short sections, with no meeting required.

The whole thing, in three steps

Three steps from group text to movie night.

01

Create your account

Create an account or sign in, choose the United States and select the streaming services you actually use.

02

Invite your group

Create a group for up to six people, then share the invite link or eight-character invite code. Everyone signs in before joining.

03

Swipe privately

Swipe right on movies and shows you would watch. MatchWatch reveals the overlap, then shows where the title is available.

Start with the services on your TV

Open MatchWatch

Go to app.matchwatch.tv in your browser. You can use it there or add it to your home screen for quicker access next time.

Create or sign in to your account

Complete the sign-in step before setup. Your account holds your profile, group membership, swipes and saved titles.

Finish your profile

Choose the United States, your streaming services, genres and age range. These settings shape the deck you see.

Get your people into one group

Create a group

Open Profile, find Group, tap Create and give it a name. Movie Night Crew is perfectly respectable. So is Couch Committee.

Share the invite

Copy the eight-character invite code or send an email invitation. The email includes an invite link that carries the group code into setup.

Join after signing in

Each partner, roommate or family member creates or signs in to an account before joining. A group can hold up to six people.

Tell MatchWatch what you can open tonight

Open Streaming Services

Go to Profile, find Streaming Services and tap Edit. The choices follow the regions saved on your profile.

Choose the right US services

Select from Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV, Hulu, HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount+, Starz, AMC+, Discovery+, Tubi and MGM+.

Update the list when it changes

Cancel a subscription, add another one or remember that Tubi is free with ads? Edit your services in Profile and save the new list.

Swipe first, discuss later

Work through the Discover deck

Drag a card right when you would watch it and left when it is not for you. Tap the star when a title deserves a stronger yes.

Keep the votes private

Everyone swipes privately on their own phone. In a couple, both people need to say yes. In a larger group, a title becomes a match when enough people in the group agree.

Open the match

Matched titles appear in Watchlist under Matched. Tap one for its details and streaming provider information, then open the service that carries it.

Give the deck a useful hint

Open Mood

Use the Mood tab and choose a lane such as Trending, Date Night, Funny, Scary, Family, Documentary, TV or Coming Soon.

Let the age filter do its job

The US system uses movie ratings such as PG-13 and TV ratings such as TV-14 or TV-MA. MatchWatch uses those regional systems when an under-18 profile range limits the deck.

Change or clear the filter

Pick another mood whenever the brief changes, or clear it to return to the wider deck. Your earlier swipes stay attached to your account.

Keep the good maybes

Save from title details

Search for a movie or show, tap the result and choose Add to Watchlist in the title details. It lands in your personal list.

Sort what you have saved

Open Watchlist to move between My Swipes, Matched and Passed, then use the filters for To watch, Watching or Watched.

Update its status

Open a saved title's details and mark it To watch, Watching or Watched. The same controls keep a strong maybe from becoming permanent list furniture.

Add another catalogue when it genuinely applies

Open Regions in Profile

Go to Profile, find Regions and tap Edit. Your current regions appear as selected buttons.

Choose one or more countries

Add another supported region if your household can actually watch there. MatchWatch uses the saved regions to build your available service list and deck.

Check your services again

A new region can add different service choices. Return to Streaming Services and keep only the ones you can use.

A few ways to stop the second round of scrolling

Keep your profile honest

Set the right regions, services and age range before you swipe. A deck full of titles nobody can open is not helping anyone.

Use Mood or Search

Use Mood when the group knows the vibe. Use Search when someone remembers one specific title and needs to get it in front of the room.

Use Pick for me in Watchlist

Open My Swipes or Matched in Watchlist. Once there is at least one title in the view, Can't decide? Pick for me chooses from that list.

Free to use

No credit card, paid subscription or trial clock. Your existing streaming subscriptions are separate.

Private swipes

Your group sees the match, not a running list of everything you rejected.

Built for US services

Choose from the current US service roster in your profile, including subscription and free ad-supported options.

Browser first

We have four streaming services and we could never agree. This fixed it immediately.
