The White Lotus sends a new collection of guests and staff into a luxury resort each season, then watches money, desire and resentment ruin the view. The anthology format gives newcomers a clear entry point, while Mike White's dark comedy makes small social errors feel as consequential as the season's larger mystery. Pick it when the group wants an ensemble and enjoys deciding which apparently pleasant person should never be trusted. The locations remain beautiful, perhaps as compensation for how exhausting several guests become before checkout.
Hacks
Hacks is the lightest commitment in this set without becoming weightless. Jean Smart's veteran comedian Deborah Vance and Hannah Einbinder's writer Ava keep turning work, rivalry and affection into a relationship neither can manage politely. Episodes move quickly, jokes have consequences, and the show understands how ambition can make talented people ridiculous. Start here on a weeknight or when the room wants comedy with a continuing story. It is easier to recommend than working for either lead, which appears to require excellent timing and unusually durable luggage.

Hacks offers the easiest weeknight start. The Penguin gives crime viewers a tighter dramatic run, while each season of The White Lotus supplies a fresh resort and guest list. Succession asks for a longer relationship with one impossible family. The Gilded Age spreads its attention across households, and Dune: Prophecy is the pick for a room happy to learn the machinery of another world.
